Our History
It all began in 1999 when Eric Manegold, Mike McQuade, and Dan Mayer began discussing how the transportation industry was greatly underserved by technology. Their experiences and understanding led to the formulation of an idea that would revolutionize how pre-and post-trip inspections, mandated by state and federal law, were conducted for commercial and private fleets.
With an innovative idea in hand, Manegold turned to Bill Brinton in 2001 to pull together an accomplished team of professionals - Bill and his brother Brett with decades of business and financial experience, Eric with transportation industry knowledge, and Mike McQuade and Dan Mayer with hardware and software engineering expertise. With hard work and creative ingenuity, Zonar was born.
The Foundation
The core Zonar technology team came from Zetec, Inc., a world leader in the development of critical nuclear power safety inspections. Zetec created a culture of innovation in the formation of its products and Zonar is taking that same spirit to fleet Telematics. Zonar takes pride in producing ground breaking applications for surface transportation operators to enhance safety, security, and fleet efficiency. Zonar's team of professionals utilize rapid development techniques to quickly bring solutions to market.
Supporting the Community
With the need to assemble high volumes of RFID tags for their solution, Zonar began looking for a partner. Mike McQuade brought AtWork!, a non-profit United Way agency, to their attention — he volunteers in their computer center — and a partnership was born.
AtWork! provides job development, work training, and employment for adults with disabilities. The quality of their work and dedication makes them an effective extension of the Zonar team.
